Chelsea Women Transfer Window

Chelsea FC Women made significant moves during the January 2025 transfer window, reinforcing our squad with high-profile signings and strategic departures to maintain our dominance in women's football. Here are few key signings:


1.     Naomi Girma: On January 26, 2025, Chelsea secured the services of U.S. international defender Naomi Girma from San Diego Wave FC for a world-record fee of £883,000 ($1.1 million). Girma, recognized as one of the premier defenders globally, brings exceptional defensive prowess and leadership to the team.

 

2.     Keira Walsh: In a notable deadlineday acquisition, Chelsea signed England midfielder Keira Walsh from FC Barcelona for £440,000. Walsh's experience and midfield mastery are expected to significantly bolster Chelsea's playmaking capabilities.

 

3.     Femke Liefting: Adding depth to their goalkeeping department, Chelsea brought in 20-year-old Dutch goalkeeper Femke Liefting from AZ Alkmaar on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Departures:

  • Ève Périsset: The 30-year-old defender departed Chelsea at the end of January seek more playing opportunities. During her tenure, Périsset contributed to two Women's Super League titles and an FA Cup victor

  • Charlotte Wardlaw: An academy graduate, Wardlaw completed a permanent move to Newcastle Unit in the Championship after being recalled from her loan at Sheffield United.

Loan Moves:

To facilitate player development and gain valuable match experience, several Chelsea players were loaned out:

  • Júlia Bartel and Alejandra Bernabé joined Liverpool for the remainder of the season.

  • Aimee Claypole moved to Durham in the Championship.

  • Greta Humphries was loaned to Charlton Athletic.
